Possession of a weapon, as a crime, consists of that circumstance in which a person who is not legally authorized to carry a concealed weapon is found in possession of such a weapon. In the United States, it can often be interpreted as the possession of a firearm by a person legally disqualified from doing so under the Gun Control Act. Alternately, it can also consist of a circumstance where the holder of that privilege is found with a weapon in a place where that privilege does not apply, such as a school, government building, airport, church, or another jurisdiction not honoring the permit
